A Bit About Me And What I've Learned.
I am not the guy who read about business in a book and decided to teach it. I built mine the hard way, and I've got the scars to show for it.
I started out in my early twenties as a DJ, playing nightclubs across London. When my wife fell pregnant, everything changed overnight. I needed to be home in the evenings. I needed to build something real. So I got into window cleaning, built a client base from scratch, then bought a commercial cleaning company called Gleam Clean in 2007. In 2009 I merged the two into Aquamark.
Then in 2012, everything nearly fell apart.
A business coach asked to see my numbers. When we finally sat down and looked at them, the reality was devastating. I owed HMRC £93,000 in unpaid VAT. My house was on the line. HMRC wanted the money in three months. On a £300k turnover, that was impossible.
That night I couldn't sleep. By 7AM the next morning, I'd closed the company and started a new one.
I kept going. I kept learning. And over the years that followed, Aquamark became the business I always wanted it to be - just under £4M turnover, 41 people in the team, looking after some of London's most complex high-rise developments.
I host the Working On It podcast because the conversations I find most valuable are the honest ones that most business owners never actually have.
If you're looking for a polished programme and a six-figure promise - I'm probably not your person. But if you want someone who has built it, broken it, fixed it, and built it again, and who will be straight with you about what it actually takes - I'd love to have a conversation.
